When you hear the word beautiful, what do you think of? Do you think of a blue sky, a flower, a rainbow? When it comes to the beauty of people, many people have different outlooks. Having true inner and outer beauty is what every women dream about. We are surprised when a women has both inner and outer beauty since we generally separate the category by stating if a women is beautiful on the outside, she will most likely not be as beautiful on the inside.

Three characteristics that have developed over time regarding beauty include the fact that men do not care about how they look as much as women, women feel the need to look beautiful even if it takes an immense amount of work, and how the word “feminine” is being perceived. I believe true beauty includes both inner and outer beauty qualities. When you think of the word “beauty” you generally think of females and characteristics that make them beautiful. How rarely do you think of a man being called beautiful?. Women concentrate on beauty far more than men. In the article titled, “What Leads to Romantic Attraction? , the author gathered information about how men and women categorize their perception of beauty from certain individuals for only a scheduled amount of time. In the speed dating study, evidence proved that men who encountered women who looked beautiful on the outside generally wanted to spend more time with the women and get to know her “inner” characteristics. Yet a man who was faced with a women who took no time to make herself looked presentable, seemed more ignored and shunned by the male recipients. On the other hand, the women had a slightly different outcome.

Women were generally more interested in males’ personality and the ability to keep them engaged and interested throughout the time they had together, meaning if men feel they do not need to put forth effort into their appearance and have someone love them for who they are and how they look naturally, they see no point in putting that effort. That is why men feel as if they do not care or have to care about how they look as much as women. Corresponding to the fact that when men have an interest in women, it is generally first based on looks. Women feel the need to look pretty because that is the first thing a man sees.

Women generally want a man to see her as being beautiful by her looks and then get to know her and eventually find inner beauty as well. People around the world have started spreading the word that true beauty consists of more than looks. A study in China reported by the Miss Universe China Pageant Director, explained how she was trying to get the women to realize true beauty also comes from within. She explained by stating being a capable, refined, beautiful human being represents the importance of training beauty. She tries to instill values into her pageant contestants by saying, “Looks aren’t everything” (Kan 1).

Would you take offense if someone called you feminine?. When the word “feminine” gets tossed around describing males, it is usually degrading. Calling a male feminine generally means they are weak or have the capabilities that females have. In the article, “What does it mean to be feminine” the author states, “Being called feminine meant I was weak” (Reynolds 1). When a woman is called feminine, it can either be a good thing or a bad thing. Women can appreciate being called feminine because it describes them as being “girly” or very lady like. On the other hand, some may take offense to the phrase.

Some women do not like to be called feminine due to the same fact that men do not like it, because it describes them as weak and incapable of certain activities. I believe being called feminine is a rewarding. Feminism means you appreciate the fact that you are a woman and embrace it by either dressing or acting a certain way. Outer beauty and feminism are tied jointly to one another. Although my opinion states that true beauty consist of inner and outer beauty, some disagree by stating if inner beauty is more important than outer beauty, why do we still work on our outer beauty?

I say we still work on our outer beauty because it is nice to feel confident in who you are as a person on both the inside and outside. User BannyBanzie on mylot. com states that outer beauty is more important because it I the first thing you see when you meet someone and is ultimately the driving factor to wanting to get to know them more. Banzie also says that if inner beauty is so important, why do we still care about our outer beauty on a daily basis? Personal gain and feeling like you look good is a main reason why women still desire to amplify their outer beauty by buying cosmetics or getting surgeries.

You can’t help the outer beauty qualities; you are born a certain way and are supposed to appreciate the way you look no matter what anyone else thinks. Inner beauty takes experience, courage and a good sense of judgment. Inner beauty develops over time and outer beauty can as well if you use enhancements. I believe women should be allowed to do whatever it takes to make them feel beautiful inside and out. Even though it seems so important to always please men, you first have to be happy with yourself and love yourself for who you are on the inside and outside.
