One problems that the gun ban will infringe upon the rights of law abiding citizens to bear arms, and most likely will not prevent criminals from criminal uses of guns. First and foremost. I must state that I am a law abiding gun owner and I believe that those who desire to purchase a gun, should do so legally, with a background check. I am also firm believer In the Second Amendment of the united States Constitution which states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,”
According to Constitution. Net (2009), (Amendment 2). In addition. I believe that the statement, “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”, speaks to the truth that a gun Is a tool that can be mistreated like any other tool. An axe can be used to hit a baseball or to hit a person; the choice is up to the swinger of the bat I believe that owning a gun is consistent with self-preservation and the ideals of liberty and freedom. As the father of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson once said, “Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither
Inclined nor determined to commit crimes Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. ” According to Daryl I Childhoods (2000), (page. 1). Liberal activists think that placing tighter restrictions on gun control will really help matters when It comes to the criminal world. How many criminals do you think are running around with fully registered guns that have had a background check for and have taken a class on how to use It?
More than likely the people carrying out these day-to-day criminal acts have either stolen or illegally bought their guns, Even criminals are not dumb enough to use a weapon that they know can be traced back to them with nothing more than matching the pattern on the bullet to the gun they just registered and bought Just a few days ahead of time. This is why gun control would not help the crime rate but probably In all reality hurt the cause. If guns become incredibly hard to get a hold of, more and more people will just give up on getting them all together.
This means there is less to worry about for the criminals. I mean If they have the only guns, why not use that to their advantage that none else tofu I do not support the sale of any gun without a background check. However, I feel that a ban on any kind of gun will only affect the law-abiding citizen, not the dangerous criminal. I believe that a criminal with malcontent will find a way to purchase a gun illegally regardless of a ban that is placed on the purchase or ownership of guns.
Drugs like marijuana, cocaine, and heroin are illegal in the United States, yet the illegal selling, possession, and usage of these drugs still takes place. There are those that illegally buy and sell drugs and will always deliberately break the law; if there were a ban on guns, there would be those who would continue to buy and sell then and deliberately break the law. The people who would truly be affected by a weapons ban are those that seek to uphold the rights and freedoms by which this nation was founded. Further more, every law-abiding citizen should have the right to buy and own a gun.
There are many ways a person can use and enjoy firearms. Some examples would be hunting for food to eat, hunting for trophy mounts, competitive shooting, ND collecting of gun. Active hunter Jacob says ” Every year around fall during deer season my family and I stock our freezers with deer. This year we shot and killed four deer; we hardly have to buy any meat from the store, which saves us a huge amount of money every year. The guns laws are fine they way they are but Just need to be regulated closer” (Archer, 2012).
Yes most of these are hobbies people could live without, but not the Indians or some low income families, Indians and some families like Jacobs still survive off of the out doors by fishing and mainly hunting. Take away their guns and they will have no way of supporting themselves or even their families. But even hunting can cause many accidents. Owning a gun demands responsibility. Animals such as deer and elk are low in fat. These animals eat off the land in which they live. This meat is natural unlike what you buy off of the store shelves. Most trophy hunters shoot for the mount and not so much the meat.
These mounts are used as decorations in an office, home, or display in museums. Competitive sport shooting is another popular activity for people that have guns. There are intentions such as skeet shooting, trap shooting, and marksmanship shooting to name a few of the competitive activities for those who own firearms. Skeet shooting is also a major event in the Olympics where American women Kimberly Rhode, the first American with individual medals in five straight Olympics, with the last three being gold and a record-setting, nearly perfect performance this year in the London Olympics.
Collecting guns from various wars and eras of time can be a very rewarding for a gun enthusiast. Collecting guns preserve our heritage and educated people of today of our early settlers and wars. It also shows how modern technology has improved our firearms. “By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia’, the ‘security of the nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms’, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy.
Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the Second Amendment, will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which very citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that April 1960. ) The opposing side has a few good arguments too. There is no reason a person needs a gun because Americans have and can get everything we need without them.
We have law enforcement for protection; we have grocery stores to buy food, and we have competitive sports that do not require a gun. We also have federal law enforcement personnel to assist us with protection. Law enforcement personal have training to assist citizens in time of need. There is no need for citizens to be running around with a firearm for protection. We do not live in the stone- age. Modern technology gives people access to emergency numbers to contact and a law enforcement officer. Officers are paid to respond and handle problems.
Yes these are all good points, but what happens when someone breaks into your house with a gun? Calling 911 immediately when you hear that person breaking into you house is a great idea. However, most of the time there isn’t a police officer waiting near your house for a call. It may take the police up to ten minutes or longer before they arrive at your house. So while you’re waiting for the police to arrive, the an that broke into your house is walking around with a gun putting your family in harms way without anyway of you protecting them.
This situation alone is enough to keep the gun laws the same as now. “Taking my gun away because I might shoot someone is like cutting my tongue out because I might yell ‘Fire! ‘ in a crowded theater” (Benevolent. ) Saying all of this, I believe the right thing to do is letting American keep and bear arms. There is a lot more to guns than what people think: Hunting: skeet shooting, target shooting, and protection. But most importantly it goes against our constitution, the second amendment. Our country was founded upon this constitution and it would be unethical to go against it.
