I woke up in the morning feeling very active. I flipped myself out of bed and as I walk past my brother who is still sleeping, I am feeling hungry. I quietly opened the door, and went straight to the bathroom to rinse my mouth with some mouthwash. I took a look in the mirror and my face was all red. I had this kind of disease a few months ago but it wasn’t this red. But as I walk down the stairs, my mouth was feeling fresh because of that mouthwash. No one was awake yet, so I decided to eat some cereal. I looked at the time and it was nearly 8:00am.
At last someone came into the living room, it was my brother. He made some toast from the kitchen and sat next to me on the sofa. He saw my face and ‘WAAH!’ he said. ‘What’s your problem?’ I asked. He ran straight to the bathroom, grabbed the mirror and holded it up in front of my face. I was surprised to see my own face. It was terrible! There was redness everywhere! It looked like I had some kind of poisonous on my skin.
I was afraid that my parents would wake up to see what I’ve done to my face and would send me to hospital! I didn’t know what to do. I asked my brother and he just said ‘It’s your problem, I ain’t dealing with it’. Then he just walked away.
Suddenly I heard my parents coming down the stairs; it was too late for me to make a run. ‘Good morning’ said my parents. I said ‘Good morning’. My head was turned to the TV. I was hoping them to walk into the kitchen to get some breakfast, but they came to sit next to me. I was getting sweaty. They asked me what happened, and I said ‘It just came up when I woke up’. They freaked out and picked up the phone and dialled 999 (Ambulance). I was even more nervous to think that I’m going to hospital. A few minutes later, they hung up the phone and said that I’m going straight to the hospital. I thought they were going to come here to pick my up but it wasn’t an emergency so we had to go ourselves. I was afraid of hospitals.
We got to the hospital and I was sitting in the waiting room with my parents. We sat there for several minutes as the hospital was busy. The reception then calls me up to register because I never came here before. The lady was wearing a blue t-shirt with a hospital sign on it. I had to give my personal details to her to put in the system. After the nurse called me in to check me up. I thought she was going to check me up then let me go home but no… after the blood pressure check up, checking my tongue etc, she called someone to get one of those push wheelchairs and took me to the patients room. It was horrible! I was amazed by what I saw whilst she was taking me to the room.
Once I got there, I was horrified to see a room full of sick patients. There were 6 beds in that room and my one was the first one. I asked if I had to stay here, and she said I had to. I was shocked when I saw her lips say that I have to stay here. No one told me this and I wasn’t prepared to stay here. I didn’t bring anything! My parents said it was getting late and they had to go back home to prepare to go to work. I was alone. Everyone was asleep and I was still on my feet. I closed the curtains around me and I decided to just lie down on the bed. I was thinking to myself, ‘What should I do?’
The only thing I could do is be calm and wait till it all ends. Suddenly I heard footsteps from outside. It was coming closer as I hear it. Suddenly the curtains moved. The nurse gave me some medicine to take because of my face. She said I have to take this every 6 hours for 8 times. I said agreed to what she said. She walked away to the reception desk and closed the curtains. I thought to myself, ‘Every 6 hours for 8 times…’ … That’s 2 whole days! I thought in my head. But I was too tired to get up so I just went to sleep.
The atmosphere around me makes me feel trapped. I felt like I couldn’t go no where and was stuck in here. But it wasn’t like the other way, as having no food, drinks, nothing.
Food was available and water was just at the end of the corridor.
Every moment I’m feeling alone and I am missing
