As his followers continued to grow in number, so did his spirit and desire to make change happen.
The best transformational leaders make sure that the goals they have actually happen, something Gandhi did very well. In order to build Influence and credibility with his followers, Gandhi used love and care to get respect as a leader. Instead of using fear and punishment towards those around him, Gandhi used the power of truth to his advantage. When Gandhi spoke to his followers half ay through the film while in South Africa, he reiterated the importance of gaining equality through acts of non violence and social protest.
At one point in the film, Gandhi vim’s to go on a hunger strike and not eat until the fighting between the with his followers because instead of simply telling his followers what to do, he actually participates. This scene also relates to his statement of being the change that you want to be in the world. In order to be an effective leader of any kind, especially a transformational leader, you must provoke actions in your life that mirror the message put out to followers.
